I’m super excited to be exhibiting at London’s National Vintage Wedding Fair this Sunday! One of the exciting things I’ve put together for my couples is this handy wedding photography guide, which is full of advice and tips to help you get the most out of your wedding photography. There’s always an incredible feeling to seeing your work in print, this post shares this summers lifestyle and product photography project for West Yorkshire based Brodie Cashmere. The Spring/Summer 2016 look book that we created landing on my door mat brought some much needed warmth into a grey and rainy day. I’m most confident working in the studio so it was great to work on a project that took me out of comfort zone and put my lighting skills and project management skills to the test. All in all we captured around 8 different models, two very springy spaniels and around 50 different pieces on the day.

The week we flew back from the wedding in Spain we were back shooting in our beloved West Yorkshire at Waterton Hall just outside of Leeds. Tom & Natasha’s day although raining and cloudy was brightened up by their bright and funky colour scheme. Natasha & Tom already have a little family with their two lively little boys and so the day was sprinkled with marvel superhero’s as a dedication to them, a lovely (and way cool!) personal touch.

Destination weddings continue to grow increasingly popular, whether it’s couples returning to their roots or simply seeking adventure. For the Li’s, marrying in Spain held great sentimental value. It’s the home of Lee’s parents, Nick & Claire and also the perfect mid way point for friends and family scattered across the globe from America to China and many in between!
Upon meeting Lee for the first time I couldn’t help but notice that her wonderful sense of creativity, kindness and passion was multiplied by her love for Leton. A feeling matched perfectly by Leton, who spoke openly and honestly about his love for Lee and their life together.
The wedding ceremony took place in the Castillo de Velez Blanco nestled in the mountains of Spain, and carried through to the reception which was hosted in the picturesque olive groves at Lee’s parents home. The quirky DIY wedding reception had been lovingly built by friends, family and local tradesmen.
Both the ceremony and the decorations for the reception perfectly combined traditions from both western and Asian cultures, representing the joining of the Gill and Li families. It was heart warming to see throughout the day, that although Leton’s parents were unable to speak English, the love and happiness of the day translated perfectly.

July and August have been the busiest months yet for Amber Marie Photography and every second has been inspiring. Whilst I’ve been working on a lot more commercial briefs, the start of August had me flying out of my beloved Leeds and into Spain to finally meet my Australia-based couple Lee & Leton. From the moment I began emailing Lee to discuss their plans for the big day, I knew that both their wedding and the photography would echo their creativity as a couple. This blog post serves as a prelude to the wedding itself, a pre-wedding shoot with a twist, this series captures why Lee & Leton’s wedding was so special. Every detail of the wedding reflected parts of their families, friends and their life together. From the lovingly crafted mementos and props, to the family and friends that transformed a remote olive grove, nestled in the mountains of Velez Blanco in Spain, into a quirky and charming DIY wedding reception.
Last month I was commissioned to produce all of the product and lifestyle photography of Brodie Cashmere’s latest SS’16 look book. It was a great opportunity for me to put into practise skills honed whilst shooting for Flannel’s as their product and editorial fashion photographer, whilst testing out my new studio space in Leeds. The move from single shooting weddings to working with another photographer felt like one of the biggest and most essential moves to make this year. It allows Amber Marie Photography to tell a more complete story by capturing the emotions and events of the day from two perspectives rather than one and that’s why, when planning your wedding, I would always recommend booking two photographers, and why my packages now do so as standard.
Although I’m used to working as part of a collaborative team within some of my commercial work, Tom & Natasha’s engagement shoot, which took place on Ilkley Moors in West Yorkshire, was my first opportunity to put working with another photographer to the test. Finding a second shooter wasn’t difficult, I have a photographer by my side each day whose work is miles better than when I shot my first ever wedding 5.. 6.. no.. 7 years ago!
The biggest benefit however of becoming a she & him team is for our couples, who can relax, safe in the knowledge that we understand the importance of truth, honesty and love within a relationship and that we can incorporate these into our practise creating coverage that tells a more complete and honest story about you.
Here is a small selection of look book fashion photography from a recent graduate look book and editorial shoot. I love the shapes and colours of this collection, they make me think of a futuristic super woman. To test out the new camera we went on a two and a half hour walk, through the fields of Leeds, with our young spirited friend and Mowgli the Chihuahua. The combination of summer sun and new camera joy is getting me super excited to photograph our first international wedding in Spain next month! Eeep!
